เคยรู้ไหม? ผลวิจัยสำรวจภาวะขาดวิตามินในคนไทย

ใน ปี 2003 มีการสำรวจถึงภาวะขาดวิตามินในผู้สูงอายุชาวไทย โดยแพทย์คณะแพทยศาสตร์ศิริราชพยาบาล มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล  ได้พบว่าคนไทยมีภาวะขาดวิตามินหลายชนิด (โดยงานวิจัยนี้ขาดการสำรวจวิตามินดี แต่เป้นที่รู้โดยทั่วกันอยู่แล้วว่า มีภาวะขาดวิตามินนี้กันทั่วโลก)

การขาดเบต้าแคโรทีนพบมากที่สุดที่ 83% รองลงมาคือ วิตามิน E (55.5%) และกรดโฟลิก (38.8%)

งานวิจัยนี้มุ่งสำรวจสถานะและปัจจัยเสี่ยงที่เกี่ยวข้องกับภาวะขาดวิตามินในผู้สูงอายุชาวไทย ซึ่งมีอายุตั้งแต่ 60 ปีขึ้นไป จากการศึกษาในชุมชนชนบท 4 ภาคของประเทศไทย โดยกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ถูกสุ่มเลือกมาจำนวน 2,336 คน การตรวจสอบรวมถึงการเก็บข้อมูลทางกายภาพและเลือดเพื่อวิเคราะห์ระดับวิตามินต่างๆ ได้แก่ วิตามิน A, เบต้าแคโรทีน, วิตามิน B1, วิตามิน B12, วิตามิน C, วิตามิน E และกรดโฟลิก

ผลการศึกษา:

การขาดเบต้าแคโรทีนพบมากที่สุดที่ 83% รองลงมาคือ วิตามิน E (55.5%) และกรดโฟลิก (38.8%)

การขาดวิตามิน B1 พบใน 30.1% ของผู้สูงอายุ ในขณะที่การขาดวิตามิน C อยู่ที่ 9.9% และการขาดวิตามิน A อยู่ที่ 6.1%

วิตามิน B12 มีการขาดเพียง 0.6% ซึ่งเป็นเปอร์เซ็นต์ต่ำที่สุด

 

ปัจจัยเสี่ยง:

เพศชายมีแนวโน้มที่จะขาดวิตามินหลายชนิด เช่น เบต้าแคโรทีน กรดโฟลิก และวิตามิน E

ผู้ที่ทำงานใช้แรงงานและมีรายได้ต่ำเป็นกลุ่มเสี่ยงที่จะขาดเบต้าแคโรทีนและวิตามิน B1

อายุที่เพิ่มขึ้นมีความสัมพันธ์กับการขาดวิตามิน C

โรคหัวใจและความดันโลหิตสูงเกี่ยวข้องกับการขาดกรดโฟลิกและวิตามิน E

 

สรุปจากข้อมูลงานวิจัยข้างต้น  คนไทยมีความเสี่ยงในการขาดวิตามินหลายตัว ได้แก่ Betacarotene , Vitamin E , Folic acid  (และอย่าลืมวิตามิน D ด้วย) การเสริมวิตามินเป็นสิ่งสำคัญในการดูแลสุขภาพในยุคปัจจุบัน โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในวันที่เราต้องเผชิญกับความเครียดและการใช้ชีวิตที่ไม่สมดุล Vitus จึงเป็นตัวช่วยที่ตอบโจทย์สำหรับคนไทยที่ต้องการวิตามินคุณภาพจากอเมริกา ใครที่กำลังมองหาวิธีเสริมสุขภาพ ลองเลือก Vitus ดูสิ !!
